About Original Artwork: Prancing Prussian, oil on canvas, 90x90cm

First, there comes a need. There is no rational “plan” to create a certain painting, as one might think. I felt a need for deep Prussian blue and other shades of this color. This particular painting is a representation of an urge, its ups and downs when trying to fulfill. It’s hard to fight human nature and what moves us toward a certain goal. Next, here comes the passion for action, when trying to fulfill one’s need almost in a maniacal nature. I feel this iris represents this idea well and swallows a viewer with its mystery which is hard to fight against. Perhaps, if you have read the book “The Moon and Sixpence” by Somers Maugham you’ll feel the reflection of its hero, his destiny and struggles in the iris “Prancing Prussian”.
